I'm watching it on fox. I need some laughs, so I figure I'd stick around for the post-debate commentary.

Jim Lehrer is really, really terrible at these things.

He knows his shit though.

No he doesn't. He's the guy who let Bush go the entire debate with Gore insisting they agreed on the Healthcare Bill of Rights even though they supported completely different packages and even though Gore went to great length to say, repeatedly, that they supported different packages (remember Gore being "elite" because he used the bill name?)

I'll take him over the people from the primaries.

Well that's not really saying anything, they're all journalists all the same.

If we were really looking out for the good of everyone, we'd cut journalists out of the moderating role altogether. Really, it makes no sense to have them there in the first place. They're not policy experts, obviously. The best way to handle these would be to set rough topics in advance and put together a panel of non-partisan, or bipartisan, policy experts and let them fire questions.
