HeartBleed Bug

Postby Brunski » Fri Apr 11, 2014 3:40 pm

I am sure by now you have heard about a HeartBleed Bug that was has caused a major stir this past week. I would like to comment on how serious this bug was and what steps was taken by Brunski Technical Services (the server that hosts Below-the-Fold).

Q. What was the Heart Bleed Bug?

A. In a nutshell the Heart Bleed Bug was an OpenSSL security hole that allows a hacker to access the memory of an SSL connection gathering infomation like usernames and passwords, which has been known for over 2 years, however was fixed recently and made public this past week.

Q.Brunski Technical Services/Below The Fold effected by this bug?

A.Brunski Technical Services was directly effected on the servers until the patch was released on the 8th of April, (and Brunski Technical Services was made aware of it April 9, 2014 as luck would have it while in class for security and patched the server immediately ), for the operating system the server runs.

Q. What dangers does this post to our membership here or another site that hasn't patched their servers?

A. Due to bug nature it hard to know what sites was effected if any, Brunski Technical Services is working hard to make changes as quickly as possible including changing passwords on the server. It is strongly suggested that you change your passwords on said site including this one.

If you wish to see if your favorite site has been patched or fixed you can visit:

and put your favorite website into it.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.
