I made a post on Sunday in
General Interest catagory titled "
Gen. Wes Clark". I worked on putting together care packages for our troops with a bunch of other Placer County residents. I'll link to the page that will show what we packed. I have pictures also!

"The soldiers" are all kinds o different people with differnt tastes, just like civilians. Chances are whatever you send someone there will want to read.

Chocolate shipping season is coming up fast as the temperature continues to drop. I'll have the next batch of packages out this time next week.
GREAT!!!!

Aw poor guys. I know how much letters and little packages meant to me when I was deployed. We just "lost" three soldiers who volunteered to go replace some others who had to come back from Iraq in a sister company. I do not envy them, personally. Deployments suck!

Just a suggestion.....first run movies on DVD. The new release DVDs you can get at the Haji shops are mostly bootlegs. And the quality is often very poor.

I'll pass those along to some of my contacts as well.
btw, while I'm over there, if anyone feels the urge to send me some Peach flavored Skoal, I'd be much obliged

Hey great job peeps. Here is what my crew liked when we were there:
Magazines
The traditonal guy stuff: Maxim, FHM, car magazines. I read Rolling Stone.
Hygeine,
The best wipes you can find. This is considered a shower in many many instances.
Snacks
Beef jerky and those protein bars. Good enegry and it will keep under extreme temps and long distances.
Books
Whatever you send, somebody will read it.
Also video games and first run dvds.

Ok, but please don't send anything extravagant, I'll be more than fine with Peach flavored Skoal
Any vets here got any advice other than "keep your eyes open, watch your back etc...." that I could use while I'm there?

They're not always bootleg. But they are sometimes, true. I used to buy tv shows because they were always real copies and it gave you something extended to do. I got caught up on sooo many tv shows over there. lol.

if you want to send stuff just send it to the addresses listed(those are military addresses and anything sent will get to the addressee with no problem)

Cool. I thought that what the deal is. All of the work I do with the Military is through my Grandfather (Gunny), and the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation and Toys for Tots. I will send what I think they will like.
My assumption, this is for troops in theatre. Can smokes be sent? Nothing like a "Marlbro" Red.

Relative newcomer, here.
Are these addresses still good?
Don't want things bouncing all over the planet, if the guys are home.
Thanks.

Read that to say:
"Send Porn, candy, and movies".
I'll try to adopt one of these Marines, but I don't want to send anything to a REMF. Can a get an Infantry-guarantee?

When my brother was over there in the first gulf war, I made up a huge box with all kinds of goodies. Popcorn, snacks, movies, etc. The kids threw in a bunch of matchbox cars and GI Joes so he wouldn't get 'bored'. I thought what the hell, it was cute and figured D would just keep them packed away and return them when he got home .
He told us the toys were the hit of his group's tent, and all the guys fought over who would get to play with 'em

Received from my Marine Corps League detachment:
My God Son is in Afghanistan with the US Marines.
I am told they are seeing heavy fighting every day (I can’t say what location for their OpSec)! They need not only physical stuff like the list below… but support in the way of letters, pictures and motivation to make sure they remember what they are fighting for! Please consider posting this info out or letting anyone you can know about this.
Degree Deodorant (usually comes in 2 pack)
Sunflower seeds (need salt to retain water)
White socks (for boots not shoes haha)
...Bags of candy (for the children)
Crayons/Crayola Markers (also for kids)
Q-tips, pocket size hand sanitizer, baby wipes, beef jerkey, chapstick.
Pictures
Letters
...and anything else you could or would want to send!
Any items sent labeled to MY Marine will be distributed between him and his platoon mates! This is not just for one Marine! We are brothers and in war there is nothing more important to them (except the people back home) than their brothers AND their country! They are an all volunteer force over there protecting our way of life!
If you know of any groups or famous people who can help it would be appreciated!
