While it’s incredibly important to remember how badly the neoconservative ideas screwed up Somalia, I think I agree with the idea of the African Union and the larger international community removing Robert Mugabe from power in Zimbabwe, with some level of force if necessary. The difference, I think, is that there’s a rival government of sorts that arguably has even more legitimacy with the citizens of Zimbabwe that could easily thrive with a bit of international help. It certainly seems like it would be in the region’s interest to shape up the country.
