Convention: Night One

Closing thoughts on the first night of the convention:

1. Michelle and Teddy were spectacular.

2. There needs to be more sharp contrasts made with McCain and George Bush. There’s really no reason not to be mentioning them by name (the Republican Convention next week will almost surely be all Obama bashing-all the time) and as a couple of people have pointed out already, the “Change” mantra doesn’t exactly make a lot of logical sense if you’re not willing to spell out what we’re moving away from. And really, Claire McCaskill was the only speaker on the night to really make any sort of case against John McCain.

3. The Democrats sure can find some really dull speakers. Hopefully Clinton is better tomorrow night, which I suspect she will be.
