The Right May Matter Yet

The far-right minority that likes to make noise couldn’t keep McCain from the GOP nomination, but they may yet scuttle any chance he has in November.

Gov. Crist is clearly the best candidate for McCain’s VP; an ideologically similar friend McCain gets along with well and can also be insturmental in locking down Florida. The importance of that to McCain cannot really be overstated. If he moves Florida into “safe” territory he frees up resources to fight in other battlegrounds, namely Ohio and McCain’s backyard, Mountain West region. That’s extra important this year, as McCain fights with substantially less resources than Barack Obama.

McCain would do well to remember that these people opposed him to no avail in the primary, and not to fall into the trap of believeing in their own delusions of grandeur come November.
