NBA Mock Draft

I’m a real sucker for sports drafts (why I have no idea) and just for the fun of it, I’ll put my early bets in on the upcoming NBA Draft (this will change).

1. Chicago Bulls: Derrick Rose

A terrible pick to go with the hometown boy, trade a good player in Hinrich, and upgrade a dubiously valuable position. I know Chris Paul is all the rage, but where is he right now again? On the other hand, you need front courts that can score, and more to the point bigger forwards who can score inside and out and get you rebounds. That’s the 1 thing all of the conference finals teams have in common, and the most glaringly lacking factor on the Bulls. Beasley should be the pick.

I should also point out that the Bulls were my favorite team, until they drafted Joakim Noah. I can’t pull for any team that pays that douche.

2. Miami Heat:  Michael Beasley

He’ll fit quite nicely with Dwayne Wade in the back court and Shawn Marion at the 3. If Wade stays healthy, Miami will be back in the playoffs next year.

3. Minnesota Timberwolves: Brook Lopez

It’ll wind up being one of those picks we scratch our heads at later, but he’s 7′ tall and Minnesota will be able to move Al Jefferson to 4. And besides, Minnesota drafts for shit anyway.

4.  Seattle Supersonis: Jerryd Bayless

They want a PG to go with Kevin Durant. This one will be a no-brainer at the spot, even if he won’t help them in the short run before he leaves for a max deal.

5. Memphis Grizzlies: OJ Mayo

6. New York Knicks: Kevin Love

Donnie Walsh is leaps and bounds better than Isiah Thomas, so I’m expecting the Knicks to make a good pick. Love is a solid inside presence who can play great defense, which they’ll need to take D’Antoni to the next level, and can score every now and then. Hopefully he’ll be a good building block character wise to offset Zach Randolph and Stephon Marbury. But it’ll still be a 3-4 year rebuilding process.

7. Los Angeles Clippers: Eric Gordon

One of my favorite players in a while goes to the worst franchise in the league. Sorry EG.

8. Milwaukee Bucks: Danillo Gallinari

9. Charlotte Bobcats: DeAndre Jordan

10. New Jersey Nets: Anthony Randolph

11. Indiana Pacers: DJ Augustin

12. Sacramento Kings: Donte Green

13. Portland Trailblazers: Russell Westbrook

If Oden is back and healthy, Portland will be one of the most fun teams to watch in the entire league.

14. Golden State Warriors: Kousta Koufos
